Dinner Dance and Awards Presentation Evening

Another good turn-out for this annual get-together at the Holiday Inn at Ellesmere Port, with a good meal for all, more than 30 riders picking up awards and some even venturing on to the dance floor, albeit after a few beers!.

British Supersport runner-up Ben Wilson was a great special guest – and even joined the club afterwards to get the necessary signature on his ACU licence. Many thanks Ben – and welcome to the club!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the evening, especially Helen and Hefin Smith, who organised pretty much everything, and Mark Berry, whose disco and DJ-ing skills wowed the girls (or so he says).

CTC & New Members

A very welcome 43 potential new competitors attended our course at the Lord Daresbury Hotel on 5th February, and the majority has joined the Club. We firstly warmly welcome those totally new to us.

Special thanks to chief marshal Dave Edwards, techies Martin Crook & Bill Redmayne, pen-pushers Margaret Dewsnap & Lyn Francis for assisting clerk of the course Dave Francis in running the course.

2012 Membership

2012 membership forms are arriving thick and fast, but if you have not yet renewed please send your Renewal Application Form, with the fee and a SAE, to Margaret Dewsnap as soon as possible. And if you want to take that opportunity to progress the renewal of your ACU licence, then Marg will countersign your licence form and forward it on to the ACU on your behalf,

Marshals - Attention Please

The season approaches and we are again waking up our intrepid band of marshals from hibernation and searching for any new recruits.  A marshals’ training day is scheduled for Saturday 10th March at Anglesey, when the experienced marshals are plugged back in again for the season ahead, and new recruits are trained in the safety basics before being let loose trackside.

Regular marshals have been sent their race meeting availability forms and we would please ask them, if they have not already done so, to return them to Dave Edwards as soon as possible. And if there are any ladies and gents out there who would like to try marshalling and to attend the training day, please ring Dave on 0151 327 4399.

No changes in the classes run for 2012

After some significant changes for 2011, no changes in our basic classes are proposed for 2012, so they will again be as follows:

Powerbikes
Formula 600
Formula 600 Steel-framed
Senior Open
Formula 125
125ccGP
250ccGP
Minitwins
Formula 400
Junior Open
Pre-Injection over 500cc (anything with a carburetor)
Forgotten Era up to 500cc (125cc – pre-1996; 126-500cc – pre 1990)
Classic Bikes 250cc, 350/500cc, and over 500cc (2-strokes to 1967; 4 strokes to 1972)
Open Sidecars

So again, everything pretty well covered – and all solo machines eligible for at least two classes. And a promise that any other odd-ball bikes will be accommodated somewhere!
